Anchor links do not work

I am trying to create a TOC with anchor links but links just bring you to a page that reads.

"This is the WebDAV interface. It can only be accessed by WebDAV clients such as the Nextcloud desktop sync client."

The README section seems to render this link as

<a href="/remote.php/files/PATH/SUBDIRECTORY/#Example-1-Heading">Example 1 Heading</a>

Is there any way to get anchor links to work properly in the README view?
